CHARLESTON, W.Va.—Think Kids is donating $5,000 to The Aspire Achievement Project, a Charleston-based nonprofit that connects students and young adults with the necessary resources, tools and trainings that will prepare them for the future in making healthy decisions on their journey toward success.
Kelli Caseman, Think Kids’ Executive Director, had an opportunity to work with The Aspire Achievement Project’s Director, Dr. Octavia Cordon, the Founder and Program Director of The Aspire Achievement Project, and was immediately impressed by their mission and work to connect with kids in their community.
“I admire the work that the Aspire Achievement Project does. It’s often said that every child needs a caring adult, and that’s certainly true. However, this organization goes beyond that. It demonstrates to children that they are valuable and that long-term success is attainable. They support these kids throughout their formative years. This work is incredibly important and deserves donations like this,” Caseman said.
For Dr. Cordon, the donation from a fellow nonprofit is a unique recognition for their continuing work. “We are so grateful for this donation and are excited to apply it to our newly created scholarship fund for graduating Seniors. We were fortunate to give two $500 scholarships to two students this year. Investing in students is investing to our future.”
For the last four years, Think Kids has served West Virginia as a statewide data-driven, community-led advocacy organization, based in Charleston. But now, as its founder and executive director relocates out of state, the organization is donating its remaining resources to organizations that provide effective programs and services to help keep West Virginia’s kids safe, healthy, and aspiring to do great things.
