Hi! My name is Morgan Krough. I am from Pennsville, New Jersey, a Senior at West Virginia University, and expect to graduate this spring. My major is Health Services Management and Leadership in the School of Public Health with a Minor in General Business. After graduation, I hope to obtain a master’s degree in Clinical Operations and Healthcare Management.
I am beyond excited to intern with Think Kids because I believe in their mission of encouraging change for kids in West Virginia and future generations. During my internship, I will be focusing on promoting and renewing Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in West Virginia. CHIP provides low-cost health coverage to children in families that may earn too much money to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to buy private insurance. I will be working with Think Kids on different components of a federal (CMS) grant to connect kids to coverage. This project is important because health insurance for low-income families, pregnant women, and children can have lifelong benefits.
My career goal is to work at a children’s hospital, and I believe this will be an incredible learning experience for me. By the end of my internship, I hope to learn how to effectively improve the lives of children and their families by working with individuals to renew/promote Medicaid and CHIP and being educated on how it can lead to a happier and healthier life. I hope I can contribute to their mission in a positive way and help make a change at the place I’ve called home for the last four years!
